Angelyn's Sewing Studio

Hey Everyone,
Well here is my sewing room! Its our second bedroom, that I share with Cliff (my boyfriend) and Maverick, our furry kid! As you can see(or not see so well)...I have covered the St.Pauli girl poster with pictures of doll faces that I like! Doll Making has become my new obsession!! This room also is the place where the furry kid leaves his toys all over the floor, hence the chew bone and paper towel rolls- one of his favorite toys!

As of Christmas I have two sewing machines(thank you Mom), a Bernina 630E and a 330. I have the 630 sitting in a SewEz Table and the 330 right next to it!
Right now as you can see i'm working on quilting my Saturday Sampler quilt from last year, so its taking up all the space on my 630! Hanging in front of my sewing machines is my silk radiance quilt I made about a year ago...i'm so indecisive about how I want to quilt it that its just been hanging waiting for some miracle inspiration to hit me!

I have a little TV in my sewing room that I watch Will & Grace on while i'm sewing...or stuffing or binding! Since I spend so much time in my sewing room, i've hung some of my favorite pictures  and quilts on the wall. The picture with the funky face is a pen & ink drawing I did in one of my first art classes. I loved it so much that i've just kept it around...Underneath that is a quilt my mom made for me. MY other passion and love are Horses. Anything Horses. :) This quilt is a photo quilt of my very first Horse Show. I received a second place ribbon which is attached to the quilt. Then there are pictures of my parents. My mom being goofy in a picture my dad took of her, on some back road in Washington, on one of their many motorcycle escapades. And My dad and I with my first street motorcycle.

Well I hope you all enjoyed seeing where I create...usually its not as clean as it is in these pictures.  Nine times out of ten you'll find a deflated dog toy with all its stuffing strewn about the room! But hey, i guess i can recycle it and stuff a doll right?!
Thanks for looking,
Angelyn

Excuse this slight interruption in our previously paid programming...

But I could not pass this up. I follow this fabulous blog and it appears that Amy (the sweet gal whose blog this is) has a husband who likes to "help", so follow this link and head on over to her blog to check out this awesome post!

You will not regret this, I read the whole thing to my husband who was sitting at the table with me (and who has experienced all of the mentioned items first hand!)

Happy Reading..and Sewing,
Enjoli :)

Maret's Sewing Studio

Cutting & Ironing station
Welcome to my sewing studio!  I am fortunate that I have a 20'x30' addition to my home that is just for me!  Usually I have creative clutter everywhere, but when Enjoli said that my turn was next...I did some major cleaning and organizing!

There is a dividing wall that separates the sewing spaces.  One side of the dividing wall has my stash and a lot of UFO's and the other side is a design wall. I used a large piece of batting and then framed it with painted molding to create the design wall.

I have a Gammill long arm quilting machine set up on one side of the room. This is a wonderful machine!  On the other side of the sewing room I have my machines set up.  I own an 830 Limited Edition, a Bernina 380 and an old 801 Bernina.  I also have a serger 1150 that just didn't make it in the picture.

My cutting and ironing area is a kitchen counter on top of two drawer sets.  I have one side layered with batting and muslin which makes a great ironing board and the other half is the cutting area.  Underneath the curtain is additional storage.  The pink locker unit is home to my knitting supplies and yarn.

Design wall and gas stove..ohhh!!

Sewing station and book stash

There is plenty of space and work stations so my girls can come up for sewing days!  The wood floor allows for easy clean up and the gas stove is perfect for keeping toasty!
Thanks for visiting!

PS...It really is that clean!  No piles of fabric had to be moved for the photos!  Ask me again next week and I might not have the same answer!
A Bernina 801 and its newer version the Bernina 830LE

My Sewing Space - Enjoli

Hey All,

So to kick off our Blog series on staff sewing spaces, I am here to share mine! :) I always see beautiful, clean, well organized sewing studios on blogs that I follow, but I will be sharing mine with you in it's natural state! This is a space that is constantly hosting many many projects all at one time, which means that it is in a constant state of disarray!

So the part of the room to the right that you cannot see, houses my 2 year old daughter, Alia! :) Hence the Dr. Seuss curtains.  The part to my left houses my stuffed full fabric and book shelves! I am rapidly outgrowing this space, and so is Alia!

Not to worry though, a new house is in our future with a room dedicated to my sewing habits. But, until then, I sew away in this space and love every minute of it!

Thanks for letting me share!
Enjoli :)

New Blog Series

Hey SLH Followers,
I just wanted to give you a heads up about a new Blog Series that we will be starting here on the SLH blog. I personally follow probably 100 blogs... no exaggeration! :P I always love it when the folks I follow post about their sewing spaces, and of course I love pictures. I think it is a fun way to get to know the people you are reading about and learning from. So with all of that said, each week we will feature one of our staff members' sewing spaces here on our blog. So keep an eye out, our posts will start next Monday, January 16th.

Hope to see you in the blog-o-sphere!

Enjoli (and my wonderful team members, who let me subject them to sharing their lives with all of you!)
