First off, we have another contest starting! This time we're giving away a $25 gift card to Seams Like Home! Secondly, we want to hear what you're sewing for Christmas (or what you hope/wish you could sew for Christmas!). So comment on this blog post about your Christmas sewing and your entered to win!

For this contest, you only get one entry, so make your comment a good one! :) The contest begins today and will be closed on December 24th at 3pm. The randomly selected winner will be announced on December 26th.

And just to be fair since you all are sharing and show off a little, I'll show you all what I sewed as a Christmas gift for my husband's grandmother! It's a peppermint candy table runner. I found this pattern in a Stitch Gifts magazine from a year or so ago. It was so easy and quick to make, with a little bit of fusible applique!

I can't wait to read what you all have done or will do for your Christmas sewing.

Happy Holidays everyone!
Thank you for your support and your business!

  5. When I saw the wall hanging on the front of "Tis the Season: Quilts and Other Comforts by Shelley Wicks and Jeanne Large, I knew I just had to make one for each of my daughters. I had so much fun picking out the numerous greens for the body of the quilt. The appliqué panel was fun and I learned some things about appliquéing while I was working on it. I had to make some changes because the pattern showed five hanging stockings, but I needed six. So I adjusted a little and added another stocking. Another change I made was to embroider initials of each in the receiving family on the stockings to make the quilt more personal. I really enjoyed quilting the quilt using loops and stars in red thread. The quilts are now bound, labeled, wrapped, and waiting for the girls and their families to come home for Christmas!

  7. My BFF runs a day care out of her house. All 6 of the children at her day care are under the age of 5. I'm going to make them dinosaur tails! They will be cone shaped, with spikes, all made out of felt and stuffed with cotton. The tails will have a band with a velcro fastener to wrap around the kiddo's waists! I cannot wait to see them running around or crawling with stegasauras tails!! (:

  9. I made book totes (small 10X13 totes for carrying a book, kindle, etc) out of our family tartan wool that I purchased in Scotland this summer. 2 meters was just enough fabric for 5 totes! Each was lined in a cotton to reflect the person receiving it.
